BETTER THAN EZRA IN THE NEWS

The following links to articles/interviews, concert reviews, photos/video, and the ubiquitous "other" category have been collected over the last two months.

Articles/Interviews

Steve Girton, long-time soundman for the Afghan Whigs, tells Cincinnati.com about meeting BTE and how they are big fans of the band.

Deborah Harry of Blondie tells the Cleveland Plain Dealer about how the song "Good Boys" came about.  KG gets a serious mention.

This article from the University of Southern Mississippi Student Printz talks about the upcoming Train-BTE-Rahzel show and the respective riders of each band.

This is another Emory Wheel article that mentions the BTE show.

This article from the Emory Wheel mentions the BTE show that recently took place on campus.

Alternative Addiction recently published an article on BTE's forthcoming DVD and more.

It's not online as of press time, but The Backstage Pass did an interview with BTE and many other cool bands.  Hear it here (eventually).

This canny Badger Herald sports writer managed to slip in a Better Than Ezra / "This Time of Year" mention at the end of this sports article.

Concert Reviews

Read about BTE's appearance at last Fall's OSU Orange Peel (with Ben Folds and Bare Naked Ladies).

Here's a very nice review from the La Salle Collegian talking about last year's spring tour show at the Trocadero in Philadelphia.

Photos/Video

Here's some photos from last Fall's Georgia Tech show.

BTE SOUND CLIP SELECTION

More fun BTE sound clips. Many of these come from the All East Coast Surfing Championship (ECSC), held in Virginia Beach, VA. held on August 24, 2002, so there is a kind of "surf" theme to this edition's clips.

If you have a theme for a sound clip selection, please contact the Editor at: ED@streetserenade.com.

"Dick Dale" - the boys from BTE give some props to Dick Dale, the father of surf music (from ECSC, August 24, 2002).

"He's Fluent" -  KG discusses his amazing linguistic ability with the crowd.  French ok, but Croatian? (from ECSC, August 24, 2002). ).

"Dude, Where's My Hobbit?" - Mr. Griffin reminisces about partying with a hobbit at Harry Connick, Jr.'s Lundi Gras Ball (from Boston, March 5, 2004).

"Jim is Relentless" - KG praises the athletic prowess of James Arthur Payne, Jr. (from Aspen's Double Diamond, February 23, 2002).

"Welcoming the Unemployed" - BTE really doesn't care if you don't have a steady job.  They're just glad you came to the rock show (from Aspen's Double Diamond, February 23, 2002).

"You Smell Even Better" - Kevin praises the ECSC crowd for their cleanliness (from ECSC, August 24, 2002).

"Steering the Youth" - A moment of maturity hits KG on stage - and then evaporates into thin air, along with some MFs (from ECSC, August 24, 2002).

"KG's Got Your Back" - Mr. Griffin decides to make a humorous political statement about the "old screwballs" beyond the jetty (from ECSC, August 24, 2004).

"The Blind Boys of Alabama Ain't Got ****!" KG gets all fired up and disses the BBA.  He later apologized (from Snapple Sunset Concert Series, Newport, RI, 2003).

"Berklee Ain't Got ****!" - KG gets all fired up (again) and disses the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He later apologized (from Boston, March 5, 2004).

Photos/Video (Cont'd)

Check out some additional pics found on the web from last July's On the Bricks show in Atlanta.

Here's another batch of BTE photos from the Wesley Clark fundraiser they did in Washington, D.C. some time ago.

Other

This is a very cool article on what to do when in the Crescent City.  Worth checking it out and BTE gets a mention.

Egad!  Follow this link for some truly awful BTE song parodies.  You were warned!

Turns out BTE is not alone having insect album cover art.  See Closer and a bunch of other album covers that feature insects.

OK, here's an article on BTE openers and pals, The Graham Colton Band, from the Webster Journal.  Pre-order their CD "Drive" (with several KG co-penned tunes) here.

Read about former BTE openers Spencer Acuff in the Technician Online.
