BTE RETURNS TO
ROCK STARKVILLE
Starkville, MS
Saturday, September 18th, 2004
by Emily (Beagle1)

How convenient that after the MSU vs. Main Football game there was a concert at the MSU amphitheater? We were so excited to find out it would be BTE! It turned out to be a pretty good night for most people who went to the show, aside from the MSU football team losing the game.

The Ezralites in the house had the front row covered. We anxiously awaited the arrival of the

band. The show was set to start after the game but no one knew an exact time. But, at around 9:30pm the lights went down, the familiar rooster crowed, and the men of BTE graced us with their presence.

It was very fan friendly setting as the fans on the front row literally could reach out and touch a band members foot. Thankfully everyone stayed polite. Throughout the show there was mention of the DVD and Live CD impending release. At one point in the show Kevin mentioned that the

DVD was like sitting in Tom's lap, which got a good laugh from the crowd. Another good KG moment was when he picked up his cup and mentioned that he was going to get a sip of sweet tea, because there was of course no alcohol allowed on campus. That comment was quickly followed by a mischievous grin and an accompanying wink.

There was also talk of the upcoming "Greatest Hit's" CD salted for a December release. According to Tom, the most fan-requested song for the album was "Get You In." Tom went on to mention the fact that they had not released anything in a long time and now here they are releasing four albums in as many months. This observation made the crowd erupt in loud cheers and applause.

There were several other non-musical highlights during the evening. They talked about the recent hurricane and Kevin losing a guitar to the blasted storm. KG gave a shoutout to all the those who were trying to get through this crazy weather. Another special treat was when Travis came from behind the drums to tell us all about the "Live Strong" Wristbands. KG got into the sprit by telling the crowd that these were way trendier than those kabala bands!

The set list for the night was as standard as they come for BTE with two exceptions. The first exception was "Pull" which KG referred to as the "rocker song for all the guys without dates." After talking with some fans after the show, the majority of us agreed we were totally rocked by this performance. The guys were totally into it and man the song just KICKED BUTT!

The second exception was guest/fan guitarist J. B. during "This Time Of Year." He blew the crowd away with his performance. Here's to you J.B, and the awesome job you did! It was a moment meant to be, even KG commented on how JB and Tom looked like brothers. Coincidentally, both had on red shirts and jeans, very fun to watch and I have to admit KG was right they did look like brothers for at least that moment in time.
