BETTER THAN EZRA IN THE NEWS

The following links to articles/interviews, concert reviews, photos/video, and the ubiquitous "other" category have been collected over the last two months.

Articles/Interviews

The amazing Stella was kind enough to post the link to this great interview Tom had with www.prosemarket.com. Definitely worth checking out, I must say.

The Vanderbilt Hustler recently had an article on BTE before the recent show on campus.

The LSU Reveille had a short article before the recent homecoming show featuring BTE.

Concert Reviews

This reviewer was all set to review Hootie & the Blowfish but ended up covering BTE because of the magnetic stage presence of one Thomas Melville Drummond!

Check out this great review from the Georgetown Hoya.  Now contrast it with this review from the Georgetown Independent:

The latter reviewer obviously was NOT going to have a good time irrespective of the band's performance.  And yes, it is very poorly written.

Here's a PDF file with a photo from the recent Georgia Tech show.

BTE got rave reviews from the Roanoke College Brackety-Ack after their recent campus show.

Photos/Video

Check out the "Great Local Band Exchange" for information on local bands in St. Louis, MO (and surrounding metropolitan areas). The site has some great pics of shows by BTE and other cool bands.

Here's a short (18 second) video clip of BTE performing "Good" from back-in-the-day.

BTE SOUND CLIP SELECTION

Actor Jack Black is scoring big with his new hit "School of Rock," but let's not forget that there's more than one academic institution out there.

The theme of this SERENADE's sound clip selection is "Professor Griffin's University of Rock."  And the School of Rock ain't got shit on the U. of Rock!!

In these clips from his famous lectures, the world-renowned Professor Griffin expounds on some of the finer points of the world of rock music.  Class is in session.  If you're all sitting comfortably, then we shall begin:

"Backbone" - That's right, every band has to have a good rhythm section to hold it together. Here, KG extols the virtues of Messrs. Drummond and McNabb (from Irving Plaza, New York, NY, October 2001).

"We Are Pros" - In this clip, Professor Griffin takes a moment to reveal the secret to entertainment and comedy for a slightly presumptuous young rock star in-the-making (from Curly's, Tulsa, OK, March 2002).

"The Rock Thank You" - It's not what you say, it's how you say it.  KG can turn even most simple of crowd interactions into a true rock 'n' roll moment (from Solana Beach, CA, August 2001).

"Satanic Rock 101" - KG explains how a simple change in chord can turn a happy note into an homage to the prince of darkness, here's how.

"Nuance, Baby" - The secret to great rock 'n' roll is the nuance (from Chicago, IL, December 2001).

"On the Noggin" - Here KG tries to apologize for dropping his mic on a fans head during "Happy Day Mama."  Hey, it can happen to the best of rockers! (from Solana Beach, CA, August 2001).

"Professional Tuning" - KG explains how BTE he tunes his guitar.

"Interpretation" - Here the master musically interprets everything Tom Drummond says (from The Varsity Theater, Baton Rouge, LA, November 2000).

"Axes" - More technical rock talk from KG.

"Breakdown" - what's the secret to rock band success? I think we all know, don't you?

Other

This link will take you to an article and video clip on the "Curse of Blondie."  As we know, KG wrote the first single "Good Boys."

Blondie recently performed "Good Boys" live on the British TV show "Top of the Pops." Here's the video - check it out!

Here's a slightly different mix of the Graham Colton song "Best Thing in My Life"  It's in WMA (windows media) format.

This is a recent article on BTE pal Graham Colton from the OU (Oklahoma University) Daily.

Howie Day is also getting some press these days. His new CD "Stop All the World Now" includes 3 tracks co-penned with Kevin Griffin -- the first single "Perfect Time of Day," the absolutely amazing "Collide" and the quirky "Sunday Morning Song."
