WIENER - FAN CAM GUY (FRIDAY NIGHT)
"Fancam Contest Essay"
by Wiener.

I will make this short since you have a poop-load of these to go through.
I think you should pick me for the "Fancam" because of the following
reasons:
1. I am a huge BTE fan. I can't prove this in anyway that is believable, so
I won't try.
2. I shoot video for bands and I know that the best shots to get are the
ones where you are laying on your back on a beer-soaked floor, hanging from
a speaker stack, sticking the camera in a musicians face or jumping into a
sea of people (and somehow managing to save the camera).
3. I hate crappy band DVD's and I think that the fancam is a welcomed idea.
4. My last name is Wiener. How can you go wrong with a guy named WIENER.
5. The last time I was in New Orleans, I ran buck naked down a street
yelling "****in' New Orleans!!"...and it wasn't Mardi Gras.
8. I have nothing to do on August 1 or 2.
MARTIN - FAN CAM GUY (SATURDAY NIGHT)

by Martin Dear BTE,
Three words. Let’s Do This! Let’s get to the essence of what this
camera(wo)man, hopefully myself, will need to encapsulate with an afternoon
and night of shooting BTE. BTE shows are laid-back, fun, rock n roll
affairs. One thing you notice at a BTE show is true fans. Not there because
it’s a "scene", or there because their office had some tix from the ad sales
department. Real fans who know the albums, and the vibe is that everyone is
friends who just don’t actually know each other yet. The main reason behind
that feeling is the vibe you guys give from stage; telling personal stories,
what you did last night, bringing a friend from the audience up on stage to
play guitar with you and be an honorary member for four minutes, getting the
crowd involved in singalongs, asking what song you should play next. Those
aspects make the shows and your band stand notches above almost all bands on
tour today. I go to a lot of shows, and ya’lls is one of the most fun every
year, something I can count on, it’s not "hit-or-miss" with ya’ll, its just
hit. It’s go-time at soundcheck, and then capture the pre-game, so fans can
see what it is you do while we are on our way there. "Wonder what those guys
are doin right now, they can’t just sit on the bus the whole time, or ****,
maybe they do, and maybe there is some craziness in there I don’t know
about. Maybe they sleep, maybe they haven’t slept since Cleveland." Catching
sidestage, you guys walking out onto the stage, to see the view you have of
us, and what that energy would feel like if we were walking out. To be in
the middle of the crowd, so you guys can feel the energy created while
watching the performance. In the bathroom, to catch that guy doing the
quick-piss, "this f*ckin rocks" exclamation to the random guy next to him.
Catch people in-line prior to the show, to see what they are hoping for, the
back-story, how many shows, what do you think they’ll open with…there are a
lot of heartfelt moments in your shows too, that come from great lyrics; to
capture fans eyes during songs like those would be special. Of course we all
wonder what BTE do after the gig to relax and enjoy the rest of the evening,
so to shed some insight into those shenanigans would be excellent and a
perfect ending to all the footage. In summary, to capture the Rock, to
capture the Roll, the heartfelt moments, to the fun madness, to the good
friends whom share the good times with you as the soundtrack, and how we
always enjoy each and every unpredictable ride you take us on when you come
to town. Looking forward to hopefully kickin it one time with you fellas. To
top it all off, a great friend happens to be marrying a girl named Allison
Foley. |
