GRAHAM COLTON HITTING
THE ROAD FOR FALL TOUR Just a heads-up that the
Ezralite-friendly Graham
Colton Band are hitting the road for an extensive Fall tour.
The guys are just finishing up their first major label release which
will be out sometime in the not too distant future.
So, check out their website for a full listing of dates.
Or stop by their message
board to see what's going on. And if you catch them on
tour, be sure to listen for the song "Cigarette" which was co-written by
Kevin Griffin -- it's a rocker! REMEMBER THE
RUSTICS? A lot of Ezralites will remember the
band Rustic Overtones. Well, BTE fans can now catch former
members of the band in two groups --
Paranoid Social Club
and Rocktopus.
Both fans tour the northeast and beyond on a regular basis.
The Rustics joined BTE for a couple of very memorable tour dates back in
2000, including the infamous August 12, 2000 show at Philadelphia's
Trocadero Theatre. Both bands retain some of the Rustics' sound, but
Paranoid Social Club has a harder punk edge while Rocktopus has more
of a rock-pop sound. Maybe check them out and let them know BTE
fans remember them well... UPCOMING BTE TOUR DATES

BETTER THAN EZRA IN THE NEWS
The following links to articles/interviews,
concert reviews, photos/video, and the ubiquitous "other" category have
been collected over the last two months.
Articles/Interviews
In this August 14 article from the Coloradoan, hear Tom discuss the
band's longevity. And thank heavens BTE is more about the melody
than the angst!
In this Las Vegas Weekly article, read all about the busy lives of the
guys, the DVD, and KG's budding role as songwriter for other artists.
Read the band's view on downloading in this in this recent Las Vegas
Mercury article.
This Times-Picayune/Nola.com article tells about the guys DVD
plans.
Concert Reviews
Keith Spera the Times-Picayune/Nola.com gives the DVD show a good
review in this round-up of recent shows in New Orleans.
This reviewer from the Georgetown Independent obviously was NOT
going to have a good time irrespective of the band's performance.
And yes, it is very poorly written.
This article from the Newport (Rhode Island) Daily News and reviews the
July 1 BTE show at the Newport Marina. It rocked (see the
SERENADE's review as well). |

BTE SOUND CLIP SELECTION
What's the theme of this edition's SERENADE
sound clips? That's right, it's the
"Demon Alcohol." Here we learn all about alcohol, its
use and abuse. Listen close, there's life lessons being taught
here:
"My
Misspent Youth" - In this clip, Kevin reminisces about smuggling alcohol
into LSU football games. The lengths some people will go to for a
drink! (from The Varsity Theatre, Baton Rouge, LA, November 2000).
"Can you Fix Me a Red Bull?" - Only Mr. Griffin would take the
opportunity of Tom's Rosealia bass solo to instruct the bartender
to prepare his favorite drink (from the CAC, New Orleans, May 2002).
"Name that Libation" - At Mardi Gras, sometimes you can't even
be sure what you're drinking. Here Kevin figures out what he's
drinking with the assistance of a fan (from
Mardi Gras, New Orleans, March 2000).
"In Vino Veritas?" - After a little wine at dinner, Kevin tells the
crowd about the most outrageous duet pairing he can imagine (from Irving Plaza, New York City March
2003).
"The Flu Scam" - Kevin tells a rapt New York City audience how
Tom attempts to feign illness for sympathy, but blows it because he
keeps on drinking beer (from
the Bowery Ballroom, New York City, March 1999).
"The Mystical Effects of Red Bull & Vodka" - KG reveals the
effects caused by consumption of 3 of these drinks (from Los
Angeles, November 2000).
"Red Bull Karma" - KG tells the crowd how their visit to Tulsa
has a sort of Red Bull karma going on (from Curly's, Tulsa OK, March 2002).
"I Need a Beer!" - Normally a teetotaler, Mr. Griffin this night decides
he cannot finish up Desperately Wanting without a beer (from
Mardi Gras, New Orleans, March 2000).
Photos/Video
Check out BTE and Cowboy Mouth performing at Nashville's "Dancing in the
District." Maybe read the SERENADE's review too?
Here are some cool pics from this year's "On the Bricks" in Atlanta.
Check out the shots of BTE and Gavin DeGraw.
This site has even more "On the Bricks" photos. Photos include BTE,
Graham Colton (who stopped
by to sing on "At the Stars"), and the amazing 8 year old
Grant Austin Taylor.
Other
Mark Mullins' Bonerama got an outstanding review from reviewer
Greg "Sarge Blotto" Haymes when the band filled-in the Subdudes
in a surprise Albany, New York show.
You heard KG wrote the new Blondie single "Good Boys," right?
Well, you can see the new video on the band's website. Just follow the
link... |
