LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Dear SERENADE: I found the hidden tracks on "Artifakt" and "Deluxe." Can you tell me anything about these tracks or any other hidden tracks on BTE’s CDs? Where are they and what are they called? Thanks, Vanezra Dear Vanezra: Great question. There’s some confusion about the hidden tracks. So, we checked with a few sources and came up with the following information about each CD: "Surprise" – This album doesn’t have any hidden songs. However, the first pressing of the album contains the two "answering machine messages." "Deluxe" – Most people have heard the hidden song at the end of the CD. It’s typically referred to as "Der Pork Und Beans" or alternatively "Streetside Jesus." However, there’s also that mysterious, unnamed track number 8. I’m told it actually does have a name – "Ether." "Friction Baby" – There’s some confusion here. People often think there are two hidden tracks, but there is only one. Initially, the track was placed at the front of the CD, not the end, so it was difficult to locate. In later editions, it was placed at the end of the CD where most hidden tracks are found. We’re not sure if it has a name, but I guess you could call it "Mejor de Ezra" given the lyrics. |
"How Does Your Garden Grow?" – There are no hidden tracks on the CD, but the Japanese version of the CD has an additional track called "Tom Collins" (and it rocks). "Artifakt" – As you probably know, the CD has two short hidden tracks at the end of the CD. We haven’t heard any official names, but they are generally referred to as "Loaded" and "Mr. Greaves." "Closer" – there are no hidden tracks on the CD per se, but there might as well be. At a recent concert Kevin Griffin remarked that "enhanced" port ion of the CD might as well be called "Stuff people never listen to." The multimedia/enhanced portion of the CD includes video clips (quicktime format) of acoustic versions of "Hollow" and "Closer." There’s also some brief studio footage. We hope this answers your questions. The Editor RANDOM EZRA
