BTE LEXICON: ARE YOU
 DOWN WITH THE M.O.M?

Have you ever run across an acronym on the BTE message board you didn't understand?  M.O.M. has got to be one of those for many newer fans. What exactly does it mean and where does it come from?

Well, as the SERENADE understands it, the  acronym stands for "Masters" or "Ministers of Misinformation."  It's a term that is used to explain why the band gives seemingly contradictory answers to the same questions from time to time.  It's not so much out and out falsehoods, it's just that the details often seem a just a little incongruous!

So, what's a good example of M.O.M.  As many other observers have pointed out, a classic example concerns the origins of the song "Rosealia."

Check out the first 3 explanations and you too will be totally confused.  Check out the 4th explanation and you too will be down with the M.O.M. (click the pictures for the sound clips):

MARDI GRAS REVIEW (CONT'D)

Later in the show, three lucky girls were pulled up on stage to dance because they were all wearing that blue "I Æ BTE" tank top.

As often happens at Mardi Gras shows, the encore kicked off with The Meters’ "They All Asked for You" which is BTE’s adopted Mardi Gras song. Then "In the Blood." And then one of the new songs – "Daylight." Kevin said he wrote this song only 2 days before the show and wanted us all to feel the vibe, so he was going to ask us to sing along at the end. And we did! Man, it completely rocked.

After having all your BTE concerts end with usually an upbeat song like "In the Blood" or "Desperately Wanting," this was certainly a nice and welcomed change. It was a slow song, a sweet song, kinda-sorta like "A Lifetime" in a way. It was beautiful, I'd love to see the guys end the show differently with a great song as this.

Other setlist stuff: Another new song, it's called "Special.". It's a rock tune, I could envision this one getting air time on the radio. I'm digging it. Also Mike joined in on the piano on "Simple Song" and it makes a helluva difference, it sounded more awesome than it usually does.

And we pointed out tonight as we were eating beignets at Cafe Du Monde that we didn't get "Live Again."  And then we started thinking that we didn't get "This Time of Year," "Rosealia," or "Porcelain." But frankly, I didn't miss it tonight. If this Mardi Gras show has any influence on what's to come in BTE's onstage future, than watch out world, we are in for an awesome ride.
