BTE SOUND CLIP SELECTION

The vast majority of this edition's sound clips come from one show at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI. (October 24, 2003).

The last clip is from a Baltimore show (May 29, 2003) has to be one of the classic comedic routines between Messrs. Griffin, Payne and Drummond.  Many thanks to those good responsible for recording this great entertainment.

"The Early Breakdown" - The guys were on a mission that night. An early breakdown during the opening song "In the Blood" bode well for the night (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"I'm Just as God Made Me" -  Far too much information about the band's digestion, etc. (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003). ).

"Scrabble Sex" - Only KG can turn scrabble into a sex game (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Say What?" - I am not even going to comment on what I think I heard him say! (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"KG's Rock Secrets" - During this breakdown KG explains how Mariah Carey contributed to his vocal style (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Rosealia Loves DMB" - Here Dave Matthews makes a surprise guest vocal appearance on "Rosealia" (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"The McNabb Monologues" - Tom and Kevin give the mic over to drummer Travis McNabb who takes the opportunity to rag on Kenny Corbett.

"KG's ESP" - Kevin explains to the crowd how he can instinctively tell if someone is truly qualified to be a TTOY guest guitarist (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Up Yonder" - KG explains a complex geographic term taught in Louisiana's schools (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Ergo... Rock" - In a careless moment, KG let's slip the name of the next BTE CD (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"The Croc Hunter" - Kevin's impressions are normally dead on, but in this case? No (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Mr. Petey" - KG explains how they get that great tambourine sound on "Daylight" with the help of "Mr. Petey" (from Providence, RI, October 24, 2003).

"Jim Payne, Shark Bite Victim" - In this clip, KG waxes philosophical about Jim Payne's (alleged) life threatening encounter with a shark (from Baltimore, MD, May 29, 2003).

Other

In this article, Ezralite and journalism student Violette Fay writes about being a "super fan."  Check out some of her other columns too.  They're very good.

This article appeared in the New York Times about KG's old buddy Cami (that's an "i" with a little heart above it folks).  Look in past editions of the Serenade and you might get some background on this relationship.

Ezralite Lauren Cagle explains why she is also a devoted fan of the rock group known as Better than Ezra.

In this Monroe News Star article, we get to read about a recent BTE opening band from Canada -- Dakona.

This article on Voodoo Fest talk about Marilyn Manson's fans, among other things

This article on Howie Day mentions the BTE connection.
