BETTER THAN EZRA IN THE NEWS

The following links to articles/interviews, concert reviews, photos/video, and the ubiquitous "other" category have been collected over the last few months.

Articles/Interviews

Here's a recent Alternative Addiction writeup on the BTE live CD/DVD. They got the details a bit wrong, but this site always plugs BTE. They generally know their stuff and appreciate quality music. Props!

Tom Drummond also did an extensive audio interview with Matt Schichter of CJIQ Radio's "Backstage Pass" in Canada.  And don't forget to check out the other cool interviews with Graham Colton and a bunch of other artists.

Tom Drummond gave an interesting interview to this reporter from the Dog Street Journal.

Concert Reviews

Here's a great review of one of BTE's March 2003 Northeast shows.  This is the review of the Washington D.C. 9:30 Club show from the Catholic University Review.

This San Jose Mercury News reader explained what a great concert value BTE is in this letter to the editor.

The best line in this older review is when the writer describes Kevin Griffin as a cross between a Greek God and an (older) Christopher Atkins of Blue Lagoon fame.  This comes from Insider Magazine.

Photos/Video

Peter T. Phan took a bunch of really good photos from the August 13th Ortley Beach show at Joey Harrison's Surf Club.  Check them out!

Looking for BTE videos? Check them out here on Launch.com.

Other

Read how LPGA rookies pass the time on their tour. One, LSU grad Meredith Duncan, is a BTE fan. Check out that CD collection!  From the Toldeo Blade.

BTE SOUND CLIP SELECTION

This edition contains even more BTE sound clips.  These span the year 1999-2002 and include a couple of musical highlights as well as the usual "funnies" we have come to know and love.

Strangely enough, the website statistics reveal that a lot of these clips are being accessed through media search engines like www.singingfish.com or  www.espew.com, so someone out here besides our readers are actually listening to these!

If you have a particularly funny sound clip or would like to suggest theme for sound clips, please contact the Editor at: ED@streetserenade.com.

"Feelin' Groovy" - Who knew BTE's Kevin Griffin and Cowboy Mouth's Fred LeBlanc would do an impromptu rendition of Simon & Garfunkel's classic "59th Street Bridge Song?" They both must have been feeling extra groovy that night! (from The Mystic Theater, Petlauma, CA, October 10, 2002).

"We Just Like to Have a Good Time" -  KG confides to the Jazzfest crowd that BTE  are not "musician Gods" like Bela Fleck & the Flecktones (from Jazzfest, New Orleans, LA, May 4, 2000).

"Practical Crowdsurfing" - Mr. Griffin provides some friendly, yet practical, crowdsurfing advice to some rowdy audience members.  Note the proper usage of the Louisiana phrase to "bowe up" on somebody (from The Abyss, Houston, TX, 1997).

"Jim Payne, Bastard Love Child" - KG explains the mysterious lineage of Mr. Payne. And offers up some movie advice in the process! (from the House of Blues, Chicago, December 31, 1998).

"A Kick Ass Solo" - This is what a really good guitar solo sounds like.  Taken from the song "porcelain," done voodoo style (from House of Blues, New Orleans, May 2, 2002, 2002).

"Give Me Some Windmill Action!" - Kevin won't let Tom leave the stage until he does his fabled "windmill" move at the end of "Desperately Wanting." Now that's how to end a rock song! (from the Centroplex, Baton Rouge, LA, February 12, 2001).

"The Crew Protest" - Kevin teases the crew and they cut the lights out on him (from Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, AR, November 3, 2001).

"The Rabble Rouser" - In an uncharacteristic moment, Tom and his devoted fans get very vocal with Mr. Griffin (from the Bronco Bowl, Dallas, TX, October 22, 1999).

"Tom's Toes" - KG points out that even Tom Drummond's toes are hi-tech! (from Voodoofest, New Orleans, October 27, 2001).

Other (Cont'd)

Anyone speak Italian? Here's an Italian website with much to say about BTE. If only we could translate it properly!
