Phoenix:
The city of Phoenix, Arizona was established on February 15, 1881. Settlers had arrived there and found its ground to be suitable for framing, as settlers as far back as 300 AD had discovered. The name 'Phoenix' was suggested after the Egyptian mythical bird that rises from the ashes; much like the area had been abandoned for thousands of years, these new settlers would see their new settlement rise from the ashes. It remained a farming community until tourism began to flourish in the 1930s and Phoenix is currently the 7th largest city in the United States. Featured attractions in Phoenix include its sports teams (the Phoenix Coyotes, Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns), Biltmore Fashion Park, the Out of Africa Wildlife Park and its college, Arizona State University.
